Uhm, WHY?
If I am playing a 1350, I'm out. F that!
I can swap with thriller if he isn't happy playing a lower rated pairing, but yeah as you said he is also 1480 rated. I do however believe they are a bit underrated if you look at their blitz and rapid ratings
I do not understand why we are doing this. That whole team is nothing but peewees. It is a complete waste of time! 200 or 300 down is one thing. 650 down is an utter joke.
They should impose minimums on the teams. For example:
Boards 1, 2 - Min 1800
Boards 3,4 - Min 1500
Boards 5,6 - Min 1200
Board 7 - No minimum.
Playing 500+ points down at every board is a total waste of time.
@ThrillerFan - I'm not really a 1350 and I think you know that. Also, I play differently than most players at my level. You've given me a good look at your French Defense, and for that reason I think I stand a better chance against you than the rest of Team e5.
Of course, I do have selfish reasons to request this pairing - the only French Defense Variation I see locally, when I play the French Defense, is the Advance Variation (strange, I know, but that's all the local Experts and Masters play), and I badly want to see how you handle it. It's the main reason I don't play the French Defense in competition, because I never get the option of playing the Rubinstein.
I have a student who is nearing 2000 rating (USCF), and I'm still splitting games with him. I play at least 1800 level chess, at least when I really focus.
@ThrillerFan - You are still a stronger player than me, but the gap is not nearly so large as you would suppose. I have scored against Experts in OTB tournament play. If you do beat me, I promise you'll have to work for it.
Uhmm so have your games started and how are u guys playing
I'm just waiting for one of the captains to do something.
@ThrillerFan challenged me, so we're set. Please begin your individual games. Reminder the time control is 3 days per move!
This is the thread to track the match between Team Sicilian and Team Caro-Kann.
@verylate and @little_guinea_pig - Please post your team rosters by Board number for this match, from 1 thru 7.
Here are the board matchups:
Team e5 wins, 9-5.
For some reason it won't let me use tables. Anyway, two games per match, one with each color, 1. e4 must be played, and black must play the team's corresponding reply. Time control is 3 days per move.
To the rest of my Team e5 compatriots, I strongly suggest you use the allowed time well. Team French is not only quite strong, but they are generally aggressive players and creative attackers, so playing passively against them is not advisable.
