Fried Liver Attack ..5 exd5 Bg4

i believe this is blacks 5th move. After white takes the pawn, bishop moves to g4 attacking the queen, and has a knight defending it.

A few times Ive tried to play this opening, black has responded with this, and Im not entirely sure how to proceed as white. Moving f3 blocks in your queen afterwards. And bringing the knight back just pins it

EDIT: actually found a save, irrelevant post.

whats the save?

Scottrf

I was thinking f3 was a double attack, but black has Na5 (typical Fried Liver move).

Goob63

plus that pawn blocks your queen from attacking f7

You didn't tell us what the save is. Why have you forsaken me

6 f3 Na5!

Lots of things wrong here.  First of all, the Fried Liver Attack can only happen if black cooperates with 5...Nxd5 and white also cooperates with 6.Nxf7?!.  The variation in question here is a line within the Italian Game: Two Knights Defense, albeit a very dubious one.  Why is it bad?  Simply f3

I started this when I first started chess again. The move is simply Nxf7. Bg4 is just bad, sad I couldn't see that then. Can we lock this thread now

I'm not sure this is easily winning. ...h6 and ...e4 don't look easy to deal with.
