Gambit in symmetrical english

I wonder if this is a sound sacrifice. I looked in my database and it is quite popular. This topic is especially important to me, as i can reach this position from both symmetrical english and declined benoni.

I've played that line a few times, black has to play carefully but I think he gets very nice compensation.

her is the theng that you have to ask yourself about this variation.

1) are youre tactics better then youre opponents? - tactics are the main pride and joy in the concepts of gambits. regaining the pawn/ piece with supirior calculation, traps and tactics  is  the main concept in most gambit variations.

2)are you controlling what you want to control? -  how is youre control of the center/flank? where are you going and what are you doing? is it working or is there a weakness for youre opponent to attack? (isolated pawn/ piece?) i personally fell as though this is a sound yet gangley gambit. it can work in the hands of a tacticion. and finally

3) was the gambit worth it? - is the advancement of an extra piece/tempo worth the loss of material? can the opponent equalize within the next 5 moves?

the hard theng about giving advice to gambits is that a gambit is over the board chess, not bonfires of chess therey and opening hogwash.most gambit plays are won by the person who is better at solving chess puzzle books and problem solving skills.

i hope this basic advice has helped you in youre chess journey.

That looks more like a Benoni type opening than an english. Could you not play 6..Bb4+ instead, if they play Bd2, take the pawn with the Knight. If then BxB, NxB, QxQ and KxQ, you prevent the fork but lose the right to castle. Is that the plan? Or would that be the flaw in trying to capture the pawn?

Thx for your advice. I like tactics, but the most important factor to me is that opening i play has to be perfectly sound, i despise questionable and tricky gambits, if i know refutation to an opening, i simply don't play it. I play only 2 gambits, Tal gambit and Benko gambit. Unless this sacrifice is ok, i would transpose to maroczy bind in accelerated dragon, problem is that maroczy is rather strategical :)

This position can apper from symmetrical english too, like this. Bishop b4+ can lead to variation on the diagram, that seems to be better for white
