If you call a tail a leg, how many legs has a dog? Five? No, calling a tail a leg does not make it a leg.
This is a philidor hanham variation. The only reason it was called the lion was for marketing purposes, as the authors did not seemed to like to use the correct name.

Everybody calls this the Hanham, but feel free to call it the Ashurbanipal Attack if you wish so.

I think it's a specific Hanham though....Hanham is a cooler name anyway it has a cute ring to it.

Indeed, but, it's a variation on the hanham variation wich had nót a name before it was the lion. A tail has already a name, that's right, so you can't call it a leg.

I don't have any marketing purposes with this blog post, I like making blog posts. I'm not the inventor of this opening, it's one of my favorite openings.
