Guicco Piano early g4?
6... 0.0 is inacurrate because of 7.g4!
Black may survive but very difficult to handle.
U have to wait with 6...d6 or probably more accurate 6...a6 (avoiding 6...d6 7.Na4).
If white does the same, then we can have a symmetric position after 6...a6 7.a3 d6. Then white shouldn't castle, because of g5 for your side now. That's why Be3, or Ne2-Ng3 are the moves (even Qe2 to "wait" and gaining long castle idea).

I think actually black is probably okay after 7..Nh7 where 8. g5 Nxg5 9. Nxg5 hxg5 10. Rg8 black has 10..Qf6 and the counterattack has already arrived. Instead of 8. g5 white has to look at 8. Nd5 but somehow Im not believing in whites attack. Maybe black can play Nd4 followed by c6 and the queen still gets to f6?

Okay...I believe in whites attack now. lol Thanks for that :![]()
Well...I might as well show this game since it was relevant to the subject. I play in a team league on FICS with a time control of 45+45. In the most recent season I played in I went for 5 wins and one draw. This was one of the better wins. One interesting thing about this game was that my opponent was from Italy. In analyzing this game afterwards, somehow I thought black could be equal with the Nh7-Qf6 idea and have since switched to the four knights. Well...I guess I have two openings I can play with e4 e5 now ![]()
I run into this opening today. When the opponent play 7g4, I was confused and not knowing what to do. When he plays 8. g5, it is clear that my defense collapses. Any suggestion how to defend against this?
