6. d5 is a much more effective choice. With e5, white becomes much to passive given what he has just sacrificed.

Well I doubt you are arguing that your line leads to a forced win. My argument would simply be that black can defend it in either case, and I find it easier to do so when white plays e5. I just find that after a sacrifice the aggression can't let up, and you're line is just leaving black too much time to  coordinate and develop.

NjChristian: I don't use this gambit I just like to experiment and study openings and gambits to increase my knowledge of chess. I don't see any lines for white I like but I might learn something that will help me playing a game or maybe someone will try this gambit on me playing black and I'll be better prepared to face it.

Black can just give back the piece for a good position.

Yea, that's been found to be the most effective counter by far. The thing is, many players even at an intermediate level don't know it simply because its not something you see very often. That said, perhaps you could make an argument for the e5 move because it does not have this refutation and your opponent would be in more unknown territory (I definitely would be). Again, its really only something to have a bit of fun with, and I do quite enjoy confusing people who have never seen it.
