The QGD is easier to understand, and in the queens gambit decline you more control in the center of the board, which gives your pieces more moblity and restricts your opponents. Where in the Benoni, KID and Grunfeld you give up control of the center at least in the early stages of the game, giving you a cramped position and your a opponent more room. The idea behind openings like the KID, and Benoni is to give up control of the center and then counter-attack your opponents pawn center. The problem with is if you haven't play alot games where you directly control the center, and really understand the advantages and disadvantages of owning a full pawn center, it will be difficult to mount a counter attack.

I suppose I do understand the QGD much better than I do the others. I have been playing that opening since I was 10. I guess that means that your chess strength actually varies depending on what opening youre playing.
