Ac5 (which is Bc5 for English speakers) is fine.
Instead of being bored or afraid of those positions, just take the time to learn them. They can stay symmetrical or boring for 10-20 moves, but after that the game starts and you can get an advantage if you know what you're doing.
One easy way to win games against inexperienced players is an early h6-g5 attack.
