I have heard that if you want to truly understand the game of chess, you should familiarize yourself with many different kinds of positions. Well, I realised that all sicilian positions are a hole. I play neither the white or black side of the open sicilian. I then set about finding a particular variation to play. However, there isn't any "good" setup. I was looking at playing the Scheveningen, but it can be extremely dangerous, the Dragon is almost put to rest by the Yugoslav Attack, and the Sveshnikov leaves a hole on d5 and d6. In short, I am looking for a more safe option in the Open Sicilian for black, that I can still buy books and read theory on. I play the French and Sniper right now, if that helps at all.
If you want to actually reach people knowledgeable about the Sicilian, try changing the thread title to be more descriptive. You might also state that you are not a beginner and that you have achieved an 1826 blitz rating. Something simple like "Open Sicilian lines for the up and coming 1800" will achieve better results than "HELP!!!"
I think that the best "more safe option" in the Open Sicilian is learning and memorizing the lines out one move further than your average opponent.
