Note: 6...Nf6 instead of 5...Nf6 is because white may play 5.Nc3 Qd6.

2... Bc5 is very good alternative

thing GM Marin wrote good book regarding 1.e4 e5 opennings, and much analysed this continuation.

It gives black very good games, and no fear if white will go c2-c3, d2-d4 since this white pawn centre is not so powerful it seems to be

Another topic from 8 years ago, but regardless this is a good line:

It's similar to the Abbazia Variation which is usually recommended, but I prefer this line personally. Etienne Bacrot has played this as black, as well as some other GMs

One interesting idea is to respond to the kings gambit with1.e4 e5 2.f4 d5 3.exd5 exf4

It's not that 'interesting' as it is what is usually recommended, but obviously it is a good option.

This is fine for black, but I prefer what I suggested in #68, which leads to similar positions but which are probably easier to play.

I used to play falkbeer against kings Gambit. And I can say that kings Gambit never really bothered me. It was even fun counter gambiting the gambiter. And there is not much theory to learn. I based my falkbeer games on the model of a morphy game where he played falkbeer.

Another model game would be Tal's loss to Petar Trifunović at the Capablanca Memorial in 1963.
