How did the english opening impact your scores?

I have been thinking about it for a while, but I'm not sure about it. I even bought a book on the english opening. The lines look convincing, but these are grandmaster's games. So my question to you current english opening players is: Is it worth it to add the english opening to my repertoire? I play e4 in every game I play, but maybe it's time to let it rest for awhile.

I'd say so. I love playing it. I scored well with it recreationally against my closest friend/rival*, and usually won with it in otb USCF rated tournaments. (I did well enough against it largely because of my familiarity, beating a lower rated and drawing a higher rated opponent.) It's certainly a lot more interesting than many e4 openings.

I used to have fun at the tournaments playing it against lower rated players. I'd push the c pawn, hit the clock and glance up. Often there'd be a look of confusion or consternation on the face of my opponent.

Good advice from Estragon. I have played the English for years, so much so that all of my opponents expect it. Then one time when I didn't my opponent jokingly fell on the floor and faked a heart attack.
