I detest those that cheat at chess. Probably better not to discuss it with me.
How Do I Attack In Chess?

Funny you should say that...me too!
Only earlier today I got accused of cheating simply because I managed to out wit my opponent to take his queen. It really pissed me off as I know for a fact that I dont cheat, but this is an example of where someone can interpret good play with cheating, be vocal about it and have others believe that cheats are common place.
I'm not that naive to believe that there are no cheats, but I think we need to keep it in perspective.
Having said all that, I wont discuss it with you :0)

The easiest way to get to a 2000 rating without using opening books is quite simple: Lie about your rating. I wouldn't believe anyone had such a rating after making this claim without some sort of verification.
I don't have to lie about my rating to make this claim. Opening books won't translate to rating points as effectively as tactics and endgame study, and most likely won't translate to rating points at all, especially if they are studied at the exclusion of everything else or are memorized but not understood. I started studying openings only after crossing 2000 USCF and bought my first books on the subject.

Why don't you take a look at some games of the following players:
In chronological order:
1. Paul Morphy
2. Alexander Alekhine
3. Rashid Nezhmetdinov
4. Mikhail Tal
If you're serious about your chess and attacking chess is your thing, add the following books to your "must read" list:
1) Paul Morphy, a modern perspective
2) Alexander Alekhine My best games of chess
3) Super Nezh, chess assassin and Rashid Nezhmetdinov Best Games of chess
4) The Life and Games of Mikhail Tal and Tal - BotviniK 1960.
After you read those books a few times there are some more about Tal
Think i'd need something a little stronger than that to keep up with you my Scottish friend.
