this my repertoire right now for white (i play e4)

White:

Against 1. e5 I play the Vienna game (I used to play the King's gambit but so many people sucked the life out of the position with stuff like nf6 and nh5)

Against 1. c6 I play the Advance and the Tal variation

Against Pirc and Modern I play the Austrian Attack

Against the French I play nc3

And against the Sicilian I play the English Attack

Black: I have both French and Alekhine at my disposal but definitely use the french more because I dont feel comfortable in Alekhine positions yet

For French, if Advance I play the qb6 line, and against nc3 I play Winawer

Against d4 I can't decide between the Grunfeld and the Czech Benoni/Benko Gambit

Benoni Benoni Benoni Benoni... so far no one at 1700 I've seen has even played the critical line... tongue.png

Everybody should have an opening for when they play white, and when they play as black an opening against d4 and one for e4. Eventually you will add openings as logical continuations of growth. I play the London System as white, but if black plays 1... Nf6 I play the Trompowsky Attack. As black I play the Kan Sicilian, avoiding a lot of possible variations for white, but I've done a lot of study of variations like the Nc3 variation, the Alapin, the Smith Morra gambit, and the Grand Prix variation, and I'm looking forward to the chance to play against them. Against d4 I play the Benoni, again cutting down on options for white. Taking the opponent out of his game and into mine is important to me.
