Okay so if anyone saw Kramnik during the canidates tournament he loves playing g3 as white and id really like to look into this. I dont want to play a KIA because i like the idea of having the pawns on d4 and c4. So how fufilling is this g3 idea?

The main openings against 1.d4 are

Queens gambit declined

Slav

Queens gambit accepeted (ignoring this because g3 would be ridicoulous)

Grunfeld

Kings Indian

Nimzo/Bogo/Queens indian

okay so against the Queens gambit declined its easy to play the catalan. Its also easy to play against the grunfeld and kid for example:

the thing is. against a slav its very awkward. not many games are recorded of playing this catalan set up agains thte slav because c6 just blunts the bishop. But here is a good example of a common move order that it comes from

so im just trying to see if the catalan could be a universal set up?

There are a few g3 based repetitore books available. Very detailed, and to be honest technical and difficult one by Avrukh from Quality chess. Alternatively more "easy play" one called Wojo's weapons. Not especially testing lines, but good explanations of what white is trying to do.
