So let’s say i’m playing black. White pushes pawn to c3 so here, initiating alapin sicilian. What do i do in this position? Do I push pawn to d5 and later after opponent capture my pawn I capture back with my queen or move a knight. Alapin sicilian is like anti sicilian so pls provide a comment on what to do in this variation

I like playing nf6 right after c3 in the alapin or delayed alapin, after e5 play nd5, after d4 play cxd4, you get the same game over and over again and black has a fine position that is likely going to an endgame, can go a few different ways from here . I prefer this to the mainline trade down shenanigans, and anything is better than white getting that monster center

usually goes something like this, I don’t have the stats but I’d bet nf6 is a little more uncommon so some players might get lost as white , whereas I get this very similar position over and over again. Also a nice way to decline the smith morra and play a game you know rather than that chaos. Picked up this line from a GM Chessable course.

It matters on your playing style 1 e4 c5 2 c3, well 2...d5 is many times less risky then 2...Knf6 but offers less winning chances to win, something I like to do is mix the lines with 2...d5 3 exd Knf6 here is a game of mine, I lost but it is a good game

The idea is that you want to go d4 on the next move. If they go d5, just take it; if they go Nf6, push e5 and make the knight move.

White kinda positionally defeated himself there in the opening
