How to side step Sveshnikov main lines

"Sveshnikov Variation"

The Sveshnikov variation of Sicilian is considered one of the most reliable of openings. Kramnik used it with great success so were others. Let me tell you a side variation if someone is not in the mood into the Sveshnikov thing, the 6.Nf5 variation.

The Nf5 variation :

To my surprise thousands of games had been played by strong masters like this way already. Going deeper into the games with open eyes, an idea strucked me.

After experimenting this line against players whom I lost many games in the sveshnikov main lines in chess.com,fics & OTB, I start winning some games. The question is why? The engine (Rybka4, houdini 1.5, fritz 12) all tells me its 0.00 (dead equal).

Chess is more complicated than that. Who cares about the objectivity of the position at hand. What matters more is whether you are familiar with the arising middlegame, thats what I think is the reasoning behind the openings.

That was an introduction into one of my prepared lines. In order to succeed this approach of choosing a rare line, player should be better prepared than his opponents because the line is objectively equal. Therefore winning can come only with better positional understanding and nuances.

Comparing to the main lines, this line is less complicated. Studying this line would not waste a lot of time & energy but would give you an edge against well established sveshnikov players. The main lines are well known by them. So drag them out of their comfort zone and show who is the boss here.

Using chess engines for testing tactical lines are highly recommended. If you have any comments, please feel free to drop.

i was trying to prevent broken pawn structures for black by taking extreme measures. i was wondering if 2...Nb4 gambiting the d-pawn is playable. it will be an interesting move if there are no forcing line winning material for white. 3.Ne3 a5 4.a3 Na6 looks too artificial. does black has any compensation for the pawn?

It seems like an interesting idea...but

Where is black's compensation for the pawn? White has no weakness, easy development. In a nutshell, white has decisive advantage. This line is not to be recommended for black.

The above variation (#1) is mighty fine for black.

5.Bc4 drops the c2 pawn for rather questionable compensation (white can take it back almost by force but this surrenders any sort of initiative he might had), but black is also fine after 5...Be7 and 5...Bd6.

White's position is not bad of course, but black has better central control and easy piece development.

It was a fine game. Though some moves by white could be criticized.

Yes, there are mistakes in that game (actually by both players), but till move 17 both have played fine, and Black is at least equal.

Have in mind that it was a rapid game, so mistakes are sort-of-excusable.
