I Need YOUR Help! (yes, yes you)

Now hear me out:

As of lately I have been having an opening crisis.

From 1200 to 1800 I have relied on hypermodern openings (with exception to QID). I have played the Alekhine's defense, many booked up lines on the Pirc and the King's Indian defense. I could literally file a lawsuit for rape with how times I got raped by pawnstorms. Now most of the times I can neutralise a pawnstorm but I'm getting sick of doing it. I also want to start playing e4 more often, since the current ratio to it as opposed to d4 is 50:1.

So...

I want to play principled/solid openings that fight for the center on move 1.

"A solid opening repertoire fosters self-confidence" - LAJOS PORTISCH

I'm don't know which solid openings (that fight for the center on move 1) to choose for 1.e4 and in reply to 1.e4. note: do not recommend Sicillian cause it makes me feel sick to my stomach (dunno why).

I will be severely limiting how many times I play 1.d4 and any hypermodern defense as black.

Suggest away all the principled openings for 1.e4 and for black 1.e5, and I will pick 1 for each. Thank you

Pay me 10 dollars and I will help you with it, what Im offering you here is  a humble deal, normally people would charge you thousands of dollars.

I always recommend e6 i.e. french defense against e4 also Queen gambit is also one of my favorite

Bump. I need serious answer please

BronsteinPawn

Bump. Why dotn you use your brain and think for yourself, is it hard to look at a mainline in a database and decide if you like the opening?
Or do you just want social recognition.

If you want to be solid and have an easy game just answer simetrically and classically.

1.e4 is answered with 1...e5 and you can choose the classic Nc6 or Nf6.

1.d4 is answered with 1...d5 and you can choose between the classical QGD or something more "modern" like the Slav, if you want something easy I would recommend the QGA.

Like really, in my times people use to RESEARCH themselves and choose WHAT THEY LIKE, no what others think.

Being a sheep will not get you far in life nor in chess.

I'm too lazy to do research, and being a sheep got me from 300 to 1800 in 18 months. Ya can't really become popular on a chess forum so I don't even know what your point is. Nice attempt at coming across as a badass though, just remember this is the internet and no one really gives a shit bout you

BronsteinPawn

Of course Im popular, photoshop gives me rights.

It was not an attempt, as I wasnt even attemtping to, my humbilities dont allow me to do so.

Repeat that last sentence tho, seems like you havent learned from it.

Against d4 play the a6 Slav, and against e4 maybe the Scandinavian?

I do think it's unfair kinda that you're not getting any answers while some complete idiots, and some trolls, do. Bur bronstein has a good point that you can do research yourself. You can look up: 'good openings' on google: just remember to skip the chesswebsite. You can also search: 'solid' in the chess.com forums and you can try stuff out that you like in a opening database. Just google free opening database chess and you'll find one. Goodluck.

As white : 1.d4 and just play Nf3, Bf4, e3, c4, Nc3 (this is quite solid and wont give you an advantage but you get a good positional fight for the centre)
As black : try this setup : c6-d5, Bf5, Nf6, e6, Nd7, Bd6 and you then play for c5 or e5. This is extremely solid and also lets you fight for the centre.
In both cases you dont truly fight for the centre from move one, but you get your fair share, a very solid position and the true fight for the centre is somewhat delayed (but no less intense by any means)

How can we suggest 1 principaled opening for white after 1.e4 when it completely depends on what black does?

If you want a low theory approach you can play the exchange everything (french, caro etc) or KIA against those lines depending on what you want. For sicilian 3.Bb5 lines. Against 1...e5 Ruy/Spanish. If you don't want mainlines consider the 5.d4 lines which are solid if black knows what he's doing, but very dangerous for black, with many quick wins for you if they don't.

As black after 1.e4 e5 I suggest going for a Ruy/Spanish as black. That means 2...Nc6 which means you'll need lines for the scotch, 4 knights, and italian. By the way a low theory reply for the king's gambit which I like is 2...exf 3.Nf3 Ne7 with 4...d5 next.

For White, a good way to ease into 1. e4 for white would be the King's Indian Attack.  The structure and plan is fairly consistent no matter how Black replies and it's a respectable opening system that can be played for a win.  The only real extra work you would need to do would be to prepare against The Scandinavian but that shouldn't be a major issue.  If I understand you correctly I believe you were also looking for a good response against 1. e4 for black that isn't the Sicilian Defense?  For transitioning from the your current openings into a new one that also fights for the initiative the Sicilian may be the best bet but you don't like those positions (I hear you, me neither) so I'm going to recommend the Scandinavian Defense for Black.  It's not a very complicated system to learn although it's not entirely respectable either.  If you want something a little more solid that still lets you come out swinging and you don't mind putting in a little extra study time, then I would recommend the Petroff Defense.  It has a reputation for being drawish but I have yet to meet a non-gm player who plays for a draw with white and when White plays to win, things can get very interesting very fast.

this is okay, i think for white

Btw, if against e4, if u wanna fight for center, either enter into the Ruy Lopez, or just simply play the Scandinavian.

I personally prefer to counterattack though

nyku13

This is the opening I use against 1. e4 . It is called Nimzowitsch defence and start with

 1. e4 Nc3

As for an opening in e4 line I am completely clueless. (well almost)

KoenSchaakmans

Colorado gambit and Danish gambit.

"1. e4 Nc3 "

A very clever defence against a patzer playing white : let him play two moves before your fisrt one :-)
