I think I got trolled, but there are so many surprising things in chess that I ask here to make sure

My opponent in Blitz, who was around 1150 elo, had this strange opening, where he gives up 2 pawns:

1. e4 d5 2. exd5 c6 3. dxc6 e5

After asking him if he was trying to give me an advantage, he said he was not.

Is there a point to this opening ? A trap somewhere ? Or was he just making fun of me ?

Opening: Scandinavian Defense: Kloosterboer Gambit (B01)

But 3.e5 is not part of this opening, and is just a straight mistake, right ?

Only if you can refute it. It's probably a rarely played variation.

RimPie

You was trolled 😀

poucin

it is a reverse Danish gambit.

Just have a look on it, with tempo up u should get a big advantage...

Top troll. mega lols

Unsound gambit.  I play the scandinavian but would never play that.

openings don't "troll" even very sketchy ones.

the idea is that its hard for one side to lose in the first few moves, and sometimes people that get a few quick gambit pawns might be cocky.

also you get people that are very tactical and good in open positions.

for myself, the key to such positions is thinking you Don't have a HUGE advantage.  I'm too loose and inaccurate as a player to be smug cause I have a couple extra pawns.
