Is anything better for me than the Parham?

let it be and Imagine are great songs, just like Don't Fear the Reaper, 2112, Sweet Home Alabama, Freebird

oh and to utarefson, I wouldn't vote for him

CHCL

@ChessisGood, he won't play any openings with early sacrifices in them.

Ben_Dubuque

Gavinator tell me who is winning in the following position, and only Gavinator, please no one else answer this

The_Gavinator

Jetfigher-

Don't fear the reaper is pretty good

2112 is like 20 minutes long, overall good, but not Rush's best

Lynyrd Skynrd is pretty good, nice and chill.

The main thing I was looking at as an alternative to this is the Veresov. I actually got that recommendation on the first page. I just watched a video about it on chesscube (free videos by FM's and IM's, freaking pwns). If I had a nickel for the amount of times he said "and this position leaves black better", I'd have a hell of a lot of nickels. There is a Parham video, I may look into that.

Ben_Dubuque

how bout Clapton

Ben_Dubuque

how much does it cost to join chesscube I might be interested in some of those free video's, not necacarrally playing games, but I might do that to.

The_Gavinator

It's free, there's a virtual currency called cubits. You wager them in games, and use them as an entry fee for tournaments, and can win. They cost cubits and are 1 week rentals.

Ben_Dubuque

ok and about the position on the last page, who was winning, with out looking up the position, or asking anyone.

The_Gavinator

uhh idk, black?

-waller-

I play at chesscube free, as long as you win more often than you lose, and only bet 20 cubits per game or so, you should be ok, and you get like 25 free every day as well. I've gone from having 0 to a stash of about 800 now I think.

Jetfighter, I actually think in the given position black is better. If he takes one of the rooks instead of both he might have had some defensive chances. Naturally, as in those days you always accepted sacrifices, black took both rooks and ended up losing.

The_Gavinator

Oh is that one of those immortal game crap?

-waller-

Everything is either "crap" or "sucks" to you doesn't it Gavinator? Tongue out

The_Gavinator

Nope, not the Parham Tongue out

The_Gavinator

More Parham Pwnage:

CHCL

LOL Black blundered horribly. That is not the best example.

-waller-

The position at move 13 is definitely pwnage - but not for White, who is totally screwed! From then on it was a blunderfest from both sides. 28...Bb3 and you lose.  Black even could have taken the pawn there and not lost his because of the back rank. Then of course the tricky threat 32.Bd6! which seemed really difficult for him to deal with lol, and he blunders a rook. In fairness, the only reason you won was because you know that you should push passed pawns, and he didn't know that he should stop them. Maybe he didn't know the underpromotion rule Tongue out.

All in all, not the best advertisement for the Parham; that really just makes me NOT want to play it!

The_Gavinator

Hey I beat someone rated 50 points higher than me, I think I may just be under-rated.

-waller-

Maybe - if 1400s generally play bad openings, miss simple fork tactics and then win when an opponent blunders a major piece and ignores his opponent's moves almost entirely from then on.

I took you first answer, in a handfull of moves Black resigned due to white announcing mate.
