is English Opening bad for 1200 rapid?

The English opening is not the best opening for white. But it's not really a bad one either.

It is a good opening, but require a broad opening knowledge as transpositions is important. So begin with learning 1.d4 openings.
I'm not one to rating gate an opening, but I think the English is more difficult to understand the plans for than most other good white openings.

It’s not for 1200 rating. Start with 1. e4. You need to learn how to play open and attacking positions which require calculations.
