Not saying you are, but if youre playing moves with the hope that your opponent will not see the best reply? That is called Hope Chess, and that is a sure fire recipe for disaster.

Doubled pawns are not great. The pawn int the front is slightly vulnerable and blocks another pawn's path. The only times the doubled pawns are good is when they control a larger area of a board and they are protected by other pawns.
