You played 2. Bd7 and 3. Be6.  This results in a lot of disadvantages:

  1. You lost material (a whole piece) with negative compensation.  That is, you paid someone to take your house from you!
  2. You now have double isolated king pawns (a key strategic weakness)
  3. You lost a tempo in your blunder
  4. You are soon to be 3 tempi down in development (after say 6. Bc4)

If you are going to play the Scandi, 2. .. Qxd5 and 2. .. Nf6 are your main moves to consider.  Anything else is dubious at best.

Sir, what I learned from people on this site was: a blunder is a blunder. Even if your opponent response with another blunder and you win the game, it is still a blunder.

Not saying you are, but if youre playing moves with the hope that your opponent will not see the best reply?  That is called Hope Chess, and that is a sure fire recipe for disaster.

Doubled pawns are twice as good.  Must be true cos Ben Finegold says so!

Doubled pawns are not great. The pawn int the front is slightly vulnerable and blocks another pawn's path. The only times the doubled pawns are good is when they control a larger area of a board and they are protected by other pawns.

And, also, who is Ben Finegold?

How can people not know who Ben Finegold is?  Tsk!
