IM pfren , I'm in an idea to change my opening from Italian game to something else that's why I commonly asked is that Benoni opening is good. I don't know about the several kinds of it.

Huh?

The Italian game is a choice for White when Black answers 1.e4 with 1...e5, while (any) Benoni is a choice for Black when White opens with 1.d4.

There is hardly any relation between them.

For those who’ve played both sides — which opening is more annoying to face as Black, and why? Do you find one gives more practical chances than the other?

This might sound strange, but I feel players who use the Italian often play solid, while Scotch players look for tactical chances. Do you think openings shape a player’s style over time, or is it just a myth?
