Just wondering!!!
When I first started playing chess, I tended to prefer starting with white. "He who get's to serve the first blow..." I suspect that that is quite typical.
Since it's a 50/50 proposition as to getting off to a start with white or black, I learned that it is crucial to learn defense as well as offense. As I developed skills, I became ambivalent.
Give me white or give me black...doesn't matter. Not in the least.
Also, black is often played very aggressively so that the white may be on the defensive.
As far as openings, many books on that subject have been written. It's good to start off with a half dozen or so of the most popular ones. But I would recommend not just focusing too exclusively on the opening...but also becoming competent on the middle and end game, as well.
Memorization and pattern recognition are excellent. But also sharpen the analytical skills so that you can think your way to solutions.
Just wondering, what do you think is the best opening against an experienced chess player?
Which colored chess pieces do you like to start a chess game with, Black or White? Why? or do it even matter?
Do you have a signature move while playing, a move you always do in no matter what situation? What is the name of your signature style of playing?
All opinions welcomed...
