If you like sacrificing material for an attack the King’s Gambit Accepted Muzio Gambit and Double Muzio is perfect for you.

After Qxf3 that’s the Muzio Gambit and after Bxf7 it’s the Double Muzio

Golden_Marmoset

Well it’s risky but I think 3...d5 is a better move than g5

tmkroll

Books on the KG tend to say things like this line "should be avoided by both colors" and like Black's g5 but not g4, however I play this with Black, just 9... Qf5 as suggested by Steinitz, which should be good enough.

poucin

Muzio is considered theorically busted.

But anyway, almost everybody play Bg7 and not the insane g4.

Golden_Marmoset
Yeah black should avoid playing the Muzio because it leaves him undeveloped with a busted kingside.
tmkroll

Well, I mean, if Black knows the theory it its just winning, but I don't want to argue about this again. Bg7 is of course a better idea if you don't want to learn a bunch of theory you'll almost never use.

Golden_Marmoset
True but the Muzio would still be fun to play if you got it on the board.
tmkroll

Yeah, I used to play some of this as White, of course, and the Bg7 Hanstein line and not people accepting was what stopped me too. If feel it's a beautiful line and you can learn a lot by playing it.

Golden_Marmoset
Yup especially about attacking but it’s very very rare that someone would play it so it’s probably better to not even study it ever it’s not very practical.

Why do you sacrifice the Knight?
