"Studying one opening" is rather a multitude of different positions.
Many positional ideas are common, and some (reversed) variations about similar, but I wouldn't say that Black has a hard time meeting the KIA. This is mostly because in the KIA white does not try to make something out of his first move development advantage, but he chooses a slow buildup plan instead.
How much of a difference is there between the two?
Does one take more studying of theory and pawn structures?
I'm just asking because if they are pretty much the same that gives you solid answers to the caro kahn, french, sicillian, pirc, english, bird, and queen pawn by only studying one opening.
