The KID isn't much good for that kind of thinking as it's a cutthroat checkmating attack from black's perspective.

The KID can be many too many different things, and most of the times both opponents can pick the pace. Whoever thinks "it's a cutthroat checkmating attack" is wrong.

KID makes black even worse.

EDIT: What is a patzer?

I think the Bayonette is the current black cloud hanging over the KID.

That's the way it goes with grandmaster chess. A certain opening is all the rage one decade, and shunned like the plague the next. The KID has run into such obstacles in the past. It has always come back.

There are no clouds. It's a matter of taste and understanding. Kramnik loves and understands best classical chess and strategical positions, and the KID gives him for free what he wants: a huge center. Today he smashed Nakamura using the old Petrosian variation. Naka never managed to get into the game.

The Najdorf poisoned pawn is 100% sound. This has been "proven" by hundreds of thousands of games on it, played in engine rooms. The problem with the poisoned pawn is the nature of the position: Effectively a piece salad, one gets the impression that the pieces are thrown on the board randomly. It may be a great variation to test your engines at XX depth, but certainly not for practical OTB play.
