Regarding the KID variation, there's not much of an advantage for white, but I would agree that this tends to avoid theory.
has any1 employed this opening as white? i use this as my main weapon against the grunfeld and KID and it's been a pretty good success against the indians. This opening along with the french are the 2 main sources for gm akobian as well which is why i admire his play and his lectures on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsyCJgyX6mQ heres one against david pruess!
Here's the variation for the KID and Grunfeld
Also, i need some imput on this variation of the french variation which i havent studied and havent had a good reputation against. If anyone is unaware, for most of my opening theory i follow the number 1 recommendations for engines but i wasnt comfortable with the positions that arose after qg4 and so far, so i was wondering how you would prepare against this variation of the french
