King's Gambit - post your favourite games as White!
This clean win for White against a Black novelty wheeled-out in the Modern Defence, was marred only by repeated Draw offers from my opponent, after a minor slip early on.
I agree... the King's Gambit is an awesome opening. If I played 1.e4 I'd be playing it.
IMO the real reason why it's no longer played at the highest levels is because the draw % is very low, around 16%, & that is vey low when compared to the main lines that are popular now. If you play the King's Gambit... General stats are" 45% you win, 35% you loose... GM's hoard Elo .... If FIDE ever figures out how to do away with the ELO system.... you would see the King's Gambit become massively popular again

Nigel Short who is one of the few top players who employs the King's Gambit with some regularity, has said that it is an awesome opening because Black has so many ways to get a good position out of the opening, that he spends quite a bit of time picking one of them.
I only play the bots here, but a while back I was trying to get familiar with the King's Gambit. Looking at the dates of these reminds me I need to get back to doing that as the games were a lot of fun. Anyway, here are my two favourites, the first against "Antonio-Bot", and the 2nd against a Chess App on my phone:

I'm old enough to remember when Kasparov wheeled out the Evans Gambit as a surprise weapon against Anand, winning with it. All of a sudden there was a flurry of interest in an opening that was considered long dead at the highest levels.
As for the Kingt's Gambit - if it's good enough for players like Spassky, Bronstein, Fedorov, Short, Ivanchuk and Carlsen to use (and win with) as a surpise weapon OTB, then I think it's a sound choice for pretty much anyone. It's certainly a fun choice for anyone sub-GM level.
Hi.
A fantastic, fun opening for White at all levels.
