Kings Indian: Passive or Aggressive?

I have just been wondering about this since I see a lot of people saying its a passive opening and aggressive players should stay away, but then I also see people saying its a very aggressive opening and I know Fisher and Kasparov used to play it and they both are aggressive players so i'm torn between which is true and why.

The Kings Indian is definitely a way for black to play for a win. It produces a very unbalanced position where the better player will win. If it is 'passive', it's only passive in the sense that black concedes space in order to 'spring out' later.

Maybe it's the opening for people that are passive-aggressive!  LOL!

I would never call the King's Indian "passive." Black tries to entice White to overextend while Black arranges a devastating (he hopes) Kingside attack. It was Fischer's favorite, and he was never known for passivity.

I think it depends on your style of play...

If youre any of the following, then you might think the KID is passive:

A passive, tactical player.

A tactically, passive player.

An agressive player that is looking for an agressive opening that is safe.

Now if youre one of the following, then you might think that the KID i agressive:

An agressively, tactical player.

A tactically agressive player.

An agressive player that likes tactiuclaly agressive openings, that arent safe.

A tactically agressive player that is looking for an opening that is agressive, and tactical.

Someone at some point said to you: "Man o man...you play like Tal"

To be a really aggressive player you must use 2 g's.
