As a fairly new player I like the move d4 because it has my favorite 2 openings the london and the catalan
King's pawn or Queen's?

if you are black and your opponent starts with E4, E5 is a better counter, wasting your opponents time as they will most likely go for the 4-move checkmate. In this case, you can waste your opponent's time and develop your pieces.

That is not really good stuff, it's only good for 300 elo

I like Queen's pawn because
1 - My center pawn are being protected even in first move
2 - Queen gambit is not a gambit
For the same center and space taking, QP is more comfortable than KP
I play only QP both in white and in black. QP with black most likely become Scandinavian defense which is very annoying for white and people response with the same line I am comfortable

I prefer the king's pawn. Not to say that the queen's pawn doesn't have some great pros, but I like the fact I can control the center either way, and my favorite openings (like the Vienna and the Four Knights) go around this simple pawn that can hold great tactical positions.
However, I do find that the queen's pawn can lead to some fun play as well. Although my thoughts on it (whenever I decide what pawn to move first) are usually "a dangerous risk" that doesn't help me win the game. However, the analysis shows that both are equal in play. I just feel uncomfortable with the queen's pawn.
So my vote is the king's pawn!
e4, because there are a lot of openings, and the king says to his other pieces, "I'm going to take cover, so you all attack, and when there are less pieces on the board I'll join the attack and we'll crush them."
