Are these books still read?

Used for one's opening repertorie?

I took a crack at Alburt's repertoire in 2014. I decided it wasn't a good fit for me, though I admired Alburt's intent and thought the format he provided for the books was top-notch -- I wish there were more books that used such a format.

I enjoy his over-the-top infomercial-esque style. Agree the formatting is fantastic with frequent diagrams and color-coding.

Be nice if he updated and put his stuff in e-book format with interactive engine, lest he gets buried and forgotten among the myriad of newer chess learning digital resources available and engine-tested.

I don’t think he chose any speculative lines, so it may likely still be fine to use his repertoires at the class level, I would imagine.

They’re both pretty solid books, and I think they make a great starting point for building your own repertoire
