I would recommend the Nimzo Indian. And pairing it up with the queens Indian.

The Slav is also very good and solid

The benko gambit is fun if you want to be aggressive, but if you just want to survive you're never getting mated in the Czech Benoni

Maybe the czech pirc and againt d4 maybe the stonewall Dutch

I love the Nimzo-Indian and the QGD (if 3. Nf3 instead of 3. Nc3). You can also try the Queen’s Indian, the Bogo-Indian, or even the King’s Indian.

I feel like the QGD isn’t so ambitious and it aims to equalise then maybe play for a win from an equal-ish position.

Its also a bit more passive then something like the Slav

But still a good and solid opening, I do think there are better options though

I tried the Bogo-Indian and found it really shaky, and I didn’t really like the Queen’s Indian Defense

Play the Leningrad Dutch and cut down on study time. Easy. No need to learn any Nimzo-Indian, Queen’s Gambit or Queen’s Indian crap.

the Dutch is fine at the higher levels, but weakening your king on move 1 is not a good option, much less ignoring your queenside development and putting your king on an exposed diagonal.

The Nimzo’s a far more practical choice for a beginner. Stop mindlessly repeating what GothamMess says and think for yourself.
