Löwe's defense

I propose this name Löwe's defense to 1. d4 d6 opening with 20,000+ master games and great statistical evaluation +0.2. Statistically, it's just the best reply to 1. d4. blitz.pngwink.png

Löwe used it in 1849 against Kennedy and won.

this opening already has a name...

Maybe not exactly after 1...d6 but some move(s) after, u can be sure this will transpose into a well known opening.

Not necessarily, for example (the same 2D1d pawn structure, 198 master games):

White just plays a Torre attack here against Philidor like defence or Pirc defence, nothing new...

U also transposed into a Trompovsky where white could easily improve its play in this move order...

IM poucin: U are partially right but, nonetheless, I feel that this 1. d4 d6 opening merits a special name. happy.png
