It's called Black forgot his pawn was hanging. It's not a gambit, just a bad move.
More info on this variation.

Expertise87 Next time you make something up maybe you should verify your made up fact is correct - although it's easy to see why you said what you did, GM Nakamura notwithstanding...

Maybe Nakamura bumped his head when he played it!

Sorry, but don't be misleading. Clyde Nakamura is just an Expert, not to be confused with GM Hikaru Nakamura. I maintain that the 'gambit' hangs the e5 pawn for insufficient compensation. Just because somebody found a name for it doesn't make it good.
And in my database White scores 100% after Nxe5. I can't say I'm surprised. The only surprise was finding a game where a 2400 played this trash as Black. White chickened out and didn't grab the material in that game. On move 4 it was even stronger! As we see both sides played badly, but White more so than Black.

I wasn't trying to say this bogus gambit was any good, just that it apparently has a name - maybe, possibly perhaps. I did overlook the minor fact that Clyde is not GM Nakamura however

duh, for a basic member it doesnt show the name after the 3rd move.
& thanks for the links!

The Game Explorer doesn't show a name for premium members either. I got that from a comment under the GE entry for the one game in the GE with this doofus opening and from the other links I gave - basically the name comes from Clyde Nakamura who may or may not be authoritative in the matter.

@ac3s_0f_aves You can't see the link to the game with 2...g6 after clicking on 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 in the Game Explorer? The info for the game with 2...g6 (bottom of list) is a working link BTW

how is it even a gambit? black can regain the pawn with Qe7 and d6 after d4...
And Black cannot safely hold on to the "gambit" pawn in the QGD, but the offer of a pawn is still called a gambit. Technically a gambit is an opening like KGA where White is not guaranteed to regain the pawn unlike in the QGA or QGD, BUT the term has now come to mean any offer of a pawn or piece regardless of whether it is a "genuine" gambit or not.
whats this gambit called? 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 g6 3.Nxe5. & can any1 tell me more about it?
