I don't see why you deserve personal insults or patronising comments as I don't see what you've done wrong exactly. I won't treat you like a simpleton as you don't deserve to be.

The truth is that that opening is truly terrible and is the reason why beginners (or anyone really) if they want to improve shouldn't try to create anything new in the opening. In fact I wouldn't think about trying to invent anything new myself, that would also be bound to be terrible in comparison to the tried and tested openings which have been built upon and improved on over 100s of years.

So in summary don't try to re-invent the wheel especially when you should be more focusing on learning basic opening principles..

Well you may want to change the DOB on your profile then.

Sharpieman2: A tip during the opening: Try to control the center with pawns and develop knights. Then open up for bishops to develop.

Don't let peoples comments put you off playing. If you enjoy playing then keep experimenting with different techniques and you'll find that some things you do are successful and some aren't. It's a massive learning curve and all the people that have criticised how you play would be subject to the same criticism by people who are in turn much better than them. It's supposed to be fun and so long as that's the case that's all that matters

Of course everyone is subject to criticism by their betters, it's called learning. He put his opening on a public forum and so shouldn't feel annoyed when people criticise (constructively), which I'm sure he isn't..

Avatar of hazenfelts

Oh yes constructive criticism is fine, sorry for the generalisation. I was referring to the rather unhelpful comments

Ok, sorry I misunderstood.

Yes that's a great opening, I personally like to get my other pieces likes knights and bishops out (But not the queen or rooks) before I start a pawn charge like you. I first castle just in case because as soon as pawns are moved, the king will gradually get weaker (:

Nice opening!

Any knowlegeable chess player, whether they were white or black, would probably never use this opening. For one, it is just plain pathetic, and two, no two chess players with even a little bit of sense about them, are never going to play the exact same way(or somewhat). Yeah, it is possible, but I duobt it would ever happen.

Suppose the original poster is not 12, suppose he or she is a 40 year old beginner, that's no reason to trash them with name-calling. Point out the weakness in the opening sure, but you shouldn't call them an idiot. We should encourage and teach beginners in the game we love.

i agree.  100%

okaaay.... I cannot believe I am the only one who saw this as a humourous thread? I mean, the kid was funny. It was great... took a fine eye to maneuver all the pieces in such a way as to an entirely symmetrical, aesthetic configuration. No, of course he doesn't deserve the stupid hateful comments above, but why are some of you getting morose and over serious. It was a lark, it was fun, it was funny. Have a smile.
