My off-beat repertoire

I'm a fan of off-beat repertoire choices also, but I would eliminate the Macho Grob, Grob, and Polish from your selection. If you are really trying to achieve 1900+ results OTB, just sayin!

why would you eliminate the polish? its a completely sound opening.

i woudnt recommend the grob, but anyone who has seen masters like basman underestimate it TOO much. giving it a spin every once in a rare while woudnt hurt, esp if you know your opponent is not well booked.

If you have the skills to have success in the Grob, why not have success in 1.e4 or 1.d4 instead?

Sorry I meant to say the Polish Defence. The Polish has its drawbacks as well. It looks threatening, but just off the top Black has 11 first moves in my database that score 50% or above for him. And then 4 more that score in the 46% to 49% range.  The engine at depth 25 gives Black an edge in 10 of 11 moves. And after my research from White's perspective, I decided most of Black's play is to easy to find OTB. Yes specialization makes up for a lot negatives, but your opponents can and probably will come up with their specific line(s) as well. (I havehappy.png) If you like the Polish than specialize, but at the upper tiers it may only result in a draw at best, but that could be said for 1e4 and 1 d4 as well, so you achieve the same result on your playing field, with less work in some respects, but more work in others. My opinion, Respectfully,

Funny thing is that all the people trying to "surprise" you with the Polish end up blundering material after 1.b4 c5!? 2.bxc5 e5 3.Bb2 Nc6 4.Nf3 Bxc5 5.Nxe5? Bxf2+ 6.Kxf2 Qb6+

Not the best ... that's why it's offbeat ... but playable ... whatever brings you the most fun and success at the level you want to be at.
