New to chess

Hi all

I'm new to chess, and looking for an easy to learn opening repertoire, but I have little spare time. I was thinking of the colle as white. But what to use as black that seems as straight forward as the colle. The QGD looks a similar set up in reverse to the colle.

Any Ideas

Well, first off you can't just say "I'm going to use the Queen's gambit declined as black."  That will only be available if your opponent plays the queen's gambit.  Also, since you say you are new to chess, then I suggest not worrying about a repertoire and just use basic opening principles instead:  move a center pawn, develop pieces, and castle.  Work on learning basic tactics first, then once you get better you should begin forming a reperoire.  Don't worry about the opening right now - as many people have said, earning a slight opening advantage doesn't mean anything if you don't know how to hold on to it, and even less when you or your opponent blunders in the middle/endgame.

Don't worry about openings until you get better. For now, focus on playing without hanging your pieces.
