I used to play 1. c4 Nf6 2. Nc3 e6 3. e4 c5 4. e5 Ng8 as Black, but I don't know if that line is still considered sound.

It is risky, but an option. Has not been refuted. 3...d5 is viewed as safer.
Does not look like he is fully ready in other lines. Caro, I do not play 3.e5 or 3.Nc3. I am a fantasizer! 3.f3 baby!

Messy but interesting
Personnaly i haven't encountered 3.e4 too often here
Maybe a line like this if not e4:
Hi all,
Looking to expand my repertoire somewhat since i now play OTB matches with my club. I'm all set against e4 (caro kann)-d4 (nimzo-indian if 3.Nc3, c5 (preparing to go full Blumenfeld if he responds with d5 or ...d5-dxc4 if Catalan)
Since english can often transpose to a 1.d4, i'd like to keep 1...Nf6-2...e6 kind of setup.
Do you have some tips on how to approach the english with that in mind? What do you play?
I'm bad in opening theory... So general plan suffice plenty!
