Nyezhmetdinov-Rossolimo Attack

I wanted some opinions on this miniature I played back in December, against a player rated a lot (at least 300 points) higher than me. We played the Sicilian Defence: Nyezhmetdinov-Rossolimo Attack (Fianchetto Variation), where my opponent played a rare move on his fifth turn, and I responded with a novelty. It is this novelty I want to be analysed.

Anyone at all? I would be extremely interested to hear any thoughts!

NN stands for No name?  Because I see this player a lot.  heh.

I think its the shortened version of the latin  nomen nescio  which means name unknown, although in this case I simply do not wish to share the name.

Thought I'd bump this thread as there are a few strong players online and I never really got a response.

(It's nine moves long! Come on! Wink)

6.Qa4 is another idea but 6.d4 looks fine to me

I think 7...exf3 was a mistake some other tries might be Qa5,Qb6,a6,Bd7.

and then Rb8 was an clear blunder, but even after 8...bxc6 9.Bxc6+ Bd7 10. Bxa8 white is clearly ahead. So I don't think black can play 7...exf3, but you should explore the alteratives.

My preference at move 5 for black would be n-f6.  After e5 n-d5 and ideas of n-c7, bxc6 if black captures and strong pressure against whites center.

6. cxd and there is great pressure on whites center(after his 5th).  Exd is at least equal if not better for black and after bxc6 black gets the bishop pair and can open up the center with c5 etc after white retakes with cxd4.

well done:)

5...d5? is a bad 'novelty' by Black, and 6 d4! is a great response. Black should have tried 5....Qb6.
