Odd move in exchange Grunfeld

Jonathan Rowson gives this as a model game in this line.  I'm not going to include his annotations, you have to buy the book for that

Rowsons book is brilliant. He is also a very clever and nice guy. I particularly like his thought on how big (if they exist) the advantages of the first move really are. Giving the white d-pawn a nickname is also a very funny idea. Still, that book is (as one would expect) slightly biased in blacks favour and getting a little old. The latter problem is not too great though, since Rowson bases most of the text on general principles and less on detailed variations. I still think it is a "must-have" for anyone aspiring to play the Grünfeld.

yeah I don't think it's an issue that the advice about the Bd2 line might be outdated, the theory isn't going to move on too fast.  In fact I think the book in general has aged extremely well, but partly because it avoided delving too deep into critical lines.
