I dont even know how i had an advantage.

the Najdorf is a quality variation. Because Miguel Najdorf was a quality player. a6 basically safeguards blacks queenside. the shveshnikov and the Najdorf share some common ideas because of the move e6. Depending on how and when you lost the game, it may have more to do with tactics and positional play or middlegame strategy than the opening itself. Do not fret, many a fine player has lost to the Najdorf. To paraphrase a great Yasser Seriwan quote, the Sicilian is two men riding a leaping tiger and neither man knows when or where they will be bucked off.

I always was an open sicilian player with a rather good 60% winrate. I have stuff against the shveshnikov, And the dragon, But recently i lost a game against the najdorf and now im not too sure on my knowledge against the sicilian.
I like 2 things against the najdorf
1st is the Rg1 line which I find very interesting
2nd is avoiding i by plaing the prins variation with f3 looking to play maroczy bind

I saw Rg1 being played by magnus against fabiano. I disregarded it cuz it didnt look stronk and broke opening principles.

I know but in this particular variation the maroczy doesnt work due to something.

You played fine, and missed out on more piece activity.
I would of considered CCT; it has to be good for you even if your cannot visualize that deep.
