Recently I've played against Nimzo, Gruenfeld, QGD, Semi-Slav, Dutch, and even a Rat in <1800 sections. I haven't seen a Benoni or Benko in quite awhile. I don't think I've ever played against a Budapest OTB, though I'd love to hit one.
Opening Survey for 1. d4 players

1. ... Nf6. The rest depends on my mood and my opponent 2nd move.
2. c4 well there are many lines to choose. But my favorite is Gruendfeld.
Hi all,
I'm about to play in tournaments again, and I haven't played in one for many years. (Though I've actively played timed long games for the past five years.) I don't know my rating although in face-to-face blitz I can generally handle myself well with expert-strength players, probably a different situation in a long game. So maybe closer to an A-player.
For years I've played 1.d4 2. c4 and I'm sticking with it. I was wondering what openings most of you saw in your region vs. 1. d4.
I'm trying to economize study time. When playing white I see, almost in this order, QGD, KID, Benoni, Dutch, Benko, Budapest, Slav, Tarrasch, a few Nimzos, I honestly don't think I've played agaisnt a semi-slav (unless it turned into Cambridge Springs) in my life, only one Noteboom, and certainly not any Chebanenkos, no QGAs either unless it's blitz chess. And of course never most of the really weird stuff Clarenden Court, Dzindi's Indian etc.
I was curious what 1. d4 players face most often. And do certain openings appear more frequently as you move up the ratings? At what levels? What 1. d4 defenses do you commit the most time to and why?
