Opening Theory Resources?

What resources are there available if I wanted to understand the reason behind opening theory?

#1 LOOKS SKETCHY? LOL.

They get GMs and IMs to annotate games in the current theoritical tests, not sketchy at all, just take a look at the forums to see the kind of discussion that takes place, chesspublishing.com may not be suitable for 2800+ players but it is suitable for all players below.
