I don't value any opening above any other. I agree with chuckychess. I have the ones which I favour playing, but objectively no one can tell you that "x" opening is best.

Exactly. Totally agree. I would only add that another plus would be if it is NOT understood nor enjoyed by the opponent, at the same time. That would promote errors on their part. }8-)

Generally, I like entering the book lines for 1. e4 . There is only 1 opening that is actually a challenge for e4, and that is the sicilian. If you look on the database , other responses to e4 are far more better for white. With d4 or c4, there are not as many "statistically better" lines. This is only my opinion and it should not be considered accepting to you for any means because I base my repetriore on statistics and databases, but others don't really care on that and just play what they want.
