This is a really dumb thing to wonder about. You know All the in's and outs of the marshall variation, but you wonder how to pronounce.....ok....
Vasja is pronounced, "vas-ya"
I can recall Slavko Cicak pronouncing it "Pirk". Being from Montenegro, he likely knows better than me.
In Germany it is commonly pronounced 'Pirk' but maybe it is pronounced 'Perk' in the rest of the world. Wikipedia may be right, but the majority of chessplayers thinks different.
Even better, the chess world has a bastardized version of Alekhine as well.

Can you use IPA-symbols please? "peerts" [piɹts] contains a phonem that is not existent in Slovenian, so I suppose it can't be pronounced in this way. I suppose it should be [piɾts], according to Wikipedia's article.

As a Slovenian, living 11 km from Idrija, and with history of correcting Kingscrusher how to pronounce it (I can't find the damn comment), I'm just the right man for this thread. 
The pronounciation I recommended was "Peerts". Of course it's not perfect, but definitely much better than "Perk".

Vasya would do I think. With short "y".
On an unrelated note, I think the pronouciation "perk" is so popular, that it is somewhat pointless to try and "correct" it.
Its pronounced 'pee -- eye -- are -- see'.
