Play with the Scotch Gambit

Hi, Xman:

Roman Dzindzichashvili did a series of three videos on the Scotch Gambit called "Underrated Openings." Here was his recommendation to handle 4...d6 (if I transcribed correctly):

1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 exd4 4. Bc4 d6 5. Nxd4 Nf6 6. Nxc6 bxc6 7. e5

  A. 7...dxe5?? 8. Bxf7+! Kxf7 9. Qxd8 Bb4+

    A1. 10. Qd2 Bxd2 11. Bxd2 Bf5 12. Na3

    A2. 10. Bd2

  B. 7...Nd7 (or Qe7) 8. 8. exd6 Bxd6 9. Nc3

  C. 7...Qe7 8. 0-0 dxe5 9. Nc3 g6 10. Re1, 11. f4

I found a Scotch Gambit played by Nakamura in master's games:

Of course, to be fair, here is Petrosian's Scotch Gambit getting dismantled by Carlsen:

Nice games @imsighked logically speaking Scotch Gambit is a chess opening which can be played at any level your game depends on how u adapt to the middlegame positions that come from the opening! Certainly its 'underrated'. Thanx for ur support in Scotch Gambit if you liked it please subscribe my channel-https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOQTrXhB2efkkiAn42FacrQ

@ciarli in Nf6 i dont see c3 lines coming of course in bishop c3 its played and the idea is if black takes the pawn there is Bxf7! which I will feature in my next video or you can check there are many videos in Scotch Gambit!

@intermediatinoz

Ur variation should be analyzed though i hv to check 8.Na3 and thanx for ur comment happy.png Please do subscribe my channel-https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOQTrXhB2efkkiAn42FacrQ

Thanx everyone for ur attention happy.png

It makes White's repertoire solid as Black has to play what White has prepared for him happy.png unlike other openings

hehe i've played the scotch gambit ever since I started in chess and I've won every single OTB game I've played using it! Even one against a 2000+ FIDE player (we both messed up a lot in that game lol), who should've known a lot better.

Ur vid was correct for the most part, but obviously you need to add more lines, and you should elaborate on white's plans if black doesn't mess up and allow white to get a powerful attack in the 2 knights defense transposition. It happens all the time when black knows what he's doing.

Also, you should add and elaborate on the lines where black sacrifices the exchange (or a pawn, depending on the exact variation... I think u know what I'm talking about) in the Bc5 before Bd7 variation of the 2 knights. That line gets pretty theoretical, and you have to know what you're doing there!

Also, there are many opening traps black falls into all the time, which you should make a video on too... for most of the players here I think those will be the lines they see most often!

Here are some ideas! Not in video format, but I just decided to do this since I really love the Scotch.. hope this is interesting!

You see a lot of common ideas in this opening, especially in the sidelines.

Generally:

*Bc4+Qb3 is only good when the opponent has played ...d6. This way, you can play Qa4+ if the opponent tries ..Na5, to win the c4 bishop. That's also why black often plays ...Qd7, and then you should use a tempo to save the bishop pair.

*In the 2 Knights (calm variation), you have 2 ideas: (1) Attack on the kingside w the pawn majority, (2) block the queenside pawns, and take over the dark squares. Both are fine, so if one doesn't work, try the other!

*In the Italian Game, your main idea is piece activity. Rc1, Re1, Ne4-c5, and even Rc5 are all possibilities in the middlegame. Just be really really active.

And here are some weird things that can happen, but aren't that good for black

@Cherub_Engel first of all this video is on the main line Nf6 Bc5 will be featured in the next video and the second variation u r showing with this Qe2 in Ng4 I dont realy see any good for white Castle and h3 is a better plan actually happy.png

I think when the whole series will be out then everything will be clear happy.png Nf6 is a pretty good line for black and tactical ideas are there in 5.0-0 Nxe4 that is a line I should hv shown though thanx for ur feedback friend I will try to elaborate them more happy.png

If you 0-0, h3, that's fine too! I play Qe2 because I like it myself.
