Question about Evan's Gambit

Hi all!

I'm currently studying Evan's Gambit opening and came across a problem I couldn't solve.  I was told that black shouldn't play dxc3 because of Qd5.  I thought of the responce for black with Qe7 and I don't see how bad black can be after this, can anyone help me out?

he can play somthing like ba3 and after qxa3 and qxf7+ white wins material easy

In this line 7...Nge7 is better. With 7...dxc3, White is superior 8.Qb3 Qe7 9.Nc3 Qb4 Bxf7+ Kd8 11.Bb2.

here is a good example of why not to take on c3

Evans Gambit is an interesting gambit offering many practical chances for white ,but current theory favours black only.

instead of 8.Qd5 white is better to play 8.Qb3. Also when black decides to take on c3 its costing black a tempo which black has already way behind in because of the combination of moves in the  evans gambit (4.b4 Bxb4 5.c3 Ba5), here black has made multiple moves with his bishop costing black tempo, so when black decides to take "that free pawn" on c3, it may look like a "free pawn" but behind the scenes its actually yet again cost black a tempo. hope this helps
