Ragozin Middle Game Plans

Hi, I have recently made the decision to start playing the Ragozin Queen's Gambit Declined with Black. Does anyone know typical middle game plans in this varation?

poucin

maybe purchase a book (sorry not maybe, sure...).

https://www.amazon.com/Ragozin-Complex-Vladimir-Barsky/dp/9056913700/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1464856919&sr=8-1&keywords=ragozin+chess

I don't know it but Barsky has a good reputation as an author.

If u prefer video mode, maybe this one :

https://www.amazon.com/The-Ragozin-Defense-Alejandro-Ramirez/dp/3866814623/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1464856919&sr=8-2&keywords=ragozin+chess

I don't know it neither (Ragozin is unknown territory to me), but Ramirez made awesome work on Benko gambit on the same format.

Don't expect anyone (almost) here to learn u something, u'd better purchase book or video which will be more informative, much well explained, and u will not read some incorrect things...

I have both book and video and like the video better. The book most gives variations (in game format that is a nice thing) but does not have a clear rep.

The video gives a better explanation of the ideas and gives a rep. While going deep enough.

Take a look at some mastergames without analyzing too much. Just browse the games to begin with to see the typical plans and manouvres . From there you can go on to study in more depth some of the stem games to see how the theory has evolved. Finally, pick a modern player who plays the Ragozin often ( I see Hou Yifan has a decent score out of 46 games) to find out the latest trends.

Would you mind outlining what type of repertoire ramierez gives? specifically if it's based around the Nc6 lines (as much of barsky is) or others

Also, do these DVDs require some specialised software like chessbase before running them?

In the straight 4...Bb4 5. cxd5 exd5 6. Bg5 line, there is 6...h6 questioning the B quickly. 7. Bxf6 can be drawish. 7. Bh4 can be sharper.

After 7. Bh4, an eventual ..g5 weakens the king side so black usually goes with queen side counter especially on c3. Black usually OK with Bxc3 if pushed. Seems trying to save the B often doesn't work out. Exchanging pieces with maybe both side weakened pawns can increase equality chances even with comprised king side.

Example of black weak king side, limited counter problem could be Ding Liren - Yu Yangyi 2015. Example of maybe better idea for black, Ding Liren - Yifan Hou 2016.

hi, what video are you talking about which gives a repertoire for black in the Ragozin? I already have the Ragozin Complex.

Wait, I see you are recommending the Alejandro Ramirez DVD. I will take a look at it. I already browse through many games in the Ragozin. I plan to play the Ragozin via the nimzo-indian move order. I enjoy playing the Nimzo-Indian and I understand its middle game ideas.
