Renier’s Gambit

Well thanks, and even tho most of players play e5 or something I still see a lot of d5 (I would say one time on three) so I can still manage to play this opening (:

And btw you’re higher rated than me so I still like having your opinion ^^’

The thing about this gambit is that if black doesn’t capture, he got to protect, else their pawn is lost.
Or black can play 2. - d4, and the engine thinks black is already better.
I don't understand why didn't you check the engine analysis before starting this topic.

Yeah I checked the engine but I don’t get why black is better in this position ^^
Hey, i was just playing with the opening explorer and was really surprised that this opening don’t have a name
Its a gambit that start with 1.c4 - d5 2.Nc3.
The accepted line is very solid for white because of the move e4, and then the only efficient way for black to protect their pawn is Be6, wich can be followed by white by F4, attacking the bishop on the next move.
The thing about this gambit is that if black doesn’t capture, he got to protect, else their pawn is lost. So for exemple they can play a move like Nf6, simply followed by e3.
(Typical declined game)
And even if they push the pawn, you can play Nb5 then play e3 or Nc3, then it’s just a regular game.
I played this a couple time with friends, and most of them weren’t able to have a good development, but I would like opinion by higher rated player (:
