Rethinking the opening: if chess is a forced draw (building a narrow, bulletproof repertoire)

I own a home with multiple bed and bathrooms, no mortgage and am in my early 20s.

Let's test your chess skill and accept the challenge that was sent!

Avatar of RivertonKnight

Oh I sent achallenge, you just dont want to play 1 minute 1 second you want a 14 day/move game cause that would show the holes in your chess skill, tart!

I don't talk smack at all, that's just your ego / being defensive.
++ No it most definitely is you talking smack, and your next sentence literally proves that.

And your referenced "Top players" who might be weaker than me (and will be soon if they're not) are going about chess very wrongly if they Do consult rote memorization or crystalized learning.
++ See what I mean? You make an unfounded inflammatory statement comparing yourself favorably to the best of all time. If that isn’t the definition of trash talking I don’t know what is.

That stuff is important for following orders, or for doing a simple task but it's horrible in a sport.
++ Nobody is arguing with you about that. We ALL agree that rote memorization is bad, you just seem to think GMs do it for some reason.

And I don't think stuff like opening theory or endgames would be romanticized as much as they are if it wasn't a trickle down meta.
++ Elaborate? Not sure what this is supposed to mean.

You talk about "GMs" like they mean something, but a chick can learn chess, open up an account and in less than 1 month see what's wrong with all of it, despite, and this is the kicker *NOT EVEN BEING THAT GOOD AT GAMES*.
++ You talk about people with decades of experience winning like their experience is worthless, meanwhile a chick can pick up a game and within a month have the SHEER GALL to believe that your knowledge and experience outweighs that of everybody else. For all your knowledge of human psychology, you are not self-aware in the SLIGHTEST.

you're getting clowned by someone who isn't even particularly talented, specialized or suited for chess. My strengths are in a different area.
++ Firstly, what? Explain to me how I’m getting “clowned on”, and also, explain to me once more how you aren’t talking smack. I’m not suited for chess either, I somewhat regularly lose games to people 600-800 ELO beneath me because that’s just how my ADHD works, I get bored, I try something new, surprise surprise it doesn’t work and I’m down a rook and two pawns. My strengths are in finding relatively good moves quickly enough to remain relevant in blitz when I’m in a good mental state.

When it says 8thMarch2023 I will be concerned, but since that isn't happening, I have no concerns! Unless you got a streak of 1/1 games un you? Do you punk!?

I will pass not playing a 4 year computer game, show your skill play some 1/1 makes no 2-bits to me either.

You be the one spouting off you be owning everyone soon enough, but you can't display the talent

Nice duck.

Good choice. You lost a lot of face in this convo but nothing compared to the emasculation the game would have caused.

You’re the one who ducked. He challenged you to a 1|1 game, you counter-challenged 14day/move, he was well within his rights to deny that challenge, it’s on you to accept his original challenge. If someone challenges you to boxing, you can’t say “mmm… no, how about a quick game of golf instead. No? What’s the matter, scared?”

Yk my prep so strong she could use an engine and still lose against me if she went into a Grunfeld because engines lose to my prep lmao.

Chaddest chad to ever chad.

Interesting 8thMarch2023 hasn't lost any games, I guess when you play people longtime controls and 750 points below you strange things can happen, oh and conveniently have your challenge filter on ....LOL

Play a real time control without your database and engine and strut your stuff.

Yeah. Considering that literally her highest rated opponent thus far was a natural 1200 (~no daily games on record) the fact that she’s so overconfident makes a lot of sense. I have a sparring partner who’s about 1200 blitz, and I always feel great about my talent after winning 15-0. Then we play rapid and it goes 8/2/5 my favor and I feel a little bit less good about it… if we ever played classical I’d get rocked, no doubt.

I sent the first challenge you conveniently ducked by saying it wasn't sent but we both know the story there .... it all to clear

BTW, I learned chess the day of my username, and went from 400-1400 so far. Many of these players were actually 700 points higher than me at the time of game start

I learnt chess 01 Nov 2021, and went from 1000-1800. You weren’t a 400 when you started, anyone with eyes could see that, I genuinely was 1000 when I started, as I went even with the other 1000s for about a month, then I got better and started climbing. I have improved, you have simply not reached your starting place yet.

It's too easy for random players to consult engines in Daily format, unfortunately.

All they have to do is open the position in another tab or window, glance at few of the engine lines, then close the browser again, once they have an idea of what the engine suggests.

I would only recommend playing Daily against someone you know personally.

Doing it as some sort of hostile challenge to others is just begging for one (or both) players to have an engine battle.

Actually I was genuinely a 4800 when I started but chess.com data crashes sent me back down to 1500.
++FeelsBadMan

Seriously, I started at like 1500ish and spent 3 months studying instead of playing bullet and yay I'm 2100 and I haven't started to tilt yet (is that good or bad?).
++ Pretty good, the climb for the time you spent is pretty insane.
